Been a member for over 5 years. Started with MAT sessions then took classes that helped me complete a Spartan race. Now using their personal training services. I like how Ken doesn’t just push me to work harder but focuses on form and function. Highly recommended.

Joined the gym in September. From jump, I’ve felted supported by the team who have made sure that I have proper form in addition to pushing me to lift heavier weight. I feel and see the differences in what my body can do. Nelson and Amber are great trainers and class leaders.

The workouts are always great and effective, and the trainers are awesome! They have helped me feel more confident and give great advice on how to boost my strength, endurance, and skill. Before, I was too scared to go to a gym, but now I look forward to it!

Elite Edge is a premier independent gym with professional trainers and a wide variety of equipment. Classes are varied and structured to focus on different strengths each day. (Mondays - lower body, Tuesdays - HIIT, Wednesdays - upper body, etc.) I’ve been a member for a few years and the workouts are never the same. The coaches provide helpful demos at the start of each workout and will provide feedback to ensure everyone is exercising safely and effectively. Everyone has always been very supportive and encouraging regardless of where you may be in your fitness journey. People drive from all over metro atlanta to workout here for a reason; best gym in Atlanta!

I have been going to Elite Edge for over 1 year and the results are incredible. Starting going with the intent to add a short term strength training to my cycling endurance training.. The upper and lower training days are now a consistent part of my routine. The instructors are always providing me with modification options. The strength training classes are different each time. The workouts are much better than going to your local gym and trying to decide what exercises you will do based on the machine that is open - or - what you know from high school. The Elite Edge team has helped me recover from a major cycling accident and more recently a total knee replacement. Excellent instructors. Great full body workouts. Best gym experience for improving my overall fitness level. Invest in yourself.

See How Our MAT™ Therapy Has Transformed Their Lives, Bodies, and Confidence Levels

The Science Behind Our Exclusive MAT™ Therapy

Instead of just treating symptoms, MAT™ identifies and corrects muscle imbalances at the source. Here’s how it works.

MAT uses a bio-mechanical evaluation and treatment process to identify where this is limited range of motion and muscles are not functioning properly. The goal is then to re-activate weak muscles through precise manual palpations and positional isometric exercises, restoring contractile capabilities and motion.

If you get to this age and you’re trying to keep playing, you need help. Everybody has a masseuse, but most guys do more now. Last year, when I flew Roskopf (founder of MAT™) to Indy, I was paying him what he’d make all day for his appointments in Denver. But if MAT™ helps extend my career by two years, with two more years of salary, its well worth it.

Questions? We've Got Answers

Everything you need to know about our MAT ™ therapy.

MAT is beneficial to people on all ends of the spectrum with all types of goals. For Exercise enthusiasts and athletes MAT™ can increase performance, prevent the occurrence of injury and eliminate discomfort associated with training. For other people MAT™ provides increased physical ability to perform the activities of daily living and recreation.

MAT focuses on identifying and reactivating muscles that aren’t firing properly. We get to the root cause of muscle dysfunction, which is why you feel results fairly quickly.

MAT is completely non-invasive and should not be painful. You’ll feel gentle pressure and muscle contractions, but the process is comfortable. Most clients find it relaxing and are amazed at how good they feel afterward.
Most treatments address tight muscles by stretching them or painful areas with temporary relief. MAT identifies why muscles are tight (usually because other muscles aren’t working) and reactivates the weak muscles. This eliminates the need for your body to create tightness as protection.

Ken Westbrook

Personal Trainer

Ken Westbrook has lived in Atlanta since 1994 when he moved here from California to attend Clark Atlanta University. He was a sprinter and hurdler at CAU when a reoccurring injury cut his collegiate career short. As an athlete, Ken has always been drawn to a profession in sports medicine and athletic training. He graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a B.S. in Health Education in 1997.

Before college in 1994, Ken was an Army Paratrooper and is a Desert Storm Veteran. Years later, he was introduced to obstacle course racing and immediately fell in love. Unfortunately, during his training, Ken experienced another injury. During this time, Ken learned about and experienced Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT). Having not run for almost a year, Ken, with the help of MAT specialist Jason Colleran at Elite Edge Fitness, began running full 6-mile races in just 6 weeks. Shortly after his MAT experience with Jason, he enrolled in the Muscle Activation Techniques program. Ken now pursues his passion and is dedicated to helping runners and active people of all skill levels achieve their goals while preventing the same types of injuries he experienced.
